Barbara IoT joins one of the most important platforms in Spain that connects businesses and technology in order to look for digital solutions to current business and social challenges

Last July 19th, the innovation platform INNOLAB Bilbao announced the incorporation of Barbara IoT to its incubation and acceleration program. INNOLAB is one of the most relevant and successful public-private collaboration initiatives in Spain, promoted by Bilbao City Council and joined by tier one private companies such as Euskaltel, IBM, Deusto University, Mondragon Corporation, BBK and Iberdrola.

INNOLAB, a powerful innovation hub

During more than two years of life, INNOLAB has created a powerful innovation hub, developing open innovation dynamics, as well as promoting the collaboration of Startups with established corporations in the region. This hub “connects businesses and technology in order to look for digital solutions to current business and social challenges”, and has successfully incubated more than 28 projects in different areas.

Barbara IoT participated in the acceleration program’s call for proposals, and was positively voted by INNOLAB Partners after the pitch delivered by Barbara’s CPO Isidro Nistal in front of them. After knowing the vote result, Isidro said “we believe joining INNOLAB acceleration program is a big success in our strategy, as there are a lot of synergies between the technology we develop and the digital challenges INNOLAB is looking to solve today”.

Barbara IoT has developed Barbara OS, a software which runs in IoT gateways, and connects industrial and IoT equipment to Internet in a cyber-secure way. After successful deployments in different verticals such as energy, transport and logistics, Barbara IoT is looking into developing these and further use cases in the Basque Country. “The Basque Country is becoming, not only the strongest industrial make-up in Spain, but also concentrating huge development around technology and cybersecurity, so it’s natural for Barbara IoT to manage our growth there’, said Isidro.

Barbara IoT technology fits indeed into the digitalization challenges of many INNOLAB Bilbao’s Partners, so we are very excited about finding real innovative collaboration cases throughout this acceleration program. Stay tuned for more news around it!
