STL Partners, a leading research and consulting firm in the telecoms industry and adjacent markets, has announced the launch of its highly anticipated top 2023 edge computing companies list, which features new criteria to better understand the financial milestones and practicalities of edge applications.

This year, STL Partners asked companies to provide more information on their financial milestones associated with edge computing, as well as for details on the practicalities of edge applications that they are enabling. By doing so, the firm was able to chart the increase in maturity of edge offerings, with more companies seeing significant revenue streams coming from their edge portfolio.

Tilly Gilbert, Principal Consultant at STL Partners and edge practice lead stated: “The edge market is dynamic and fast-moving and it's been a pleasure to learn more about the achievements of a whole range of companies (from established to disruptive startups). Our list encompasses players from across the value chain, highlighting innovation in data centres, cloud, orchestration, analytics and more”.

The list features 100 companies that have demonstrated exceptional innovation, agility, and potential in the rapidly growing edge computing market. From global manufacturing operations to retail to V2X communication, the selected companies highlight the increased range of edge use cases being enabled by this technology.

Edge computing is a key enabler of the next generation of digital services, enabling low-latency, high-bandwidth processing of data closer to the source.

With the proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, smart cities, autonomous vehicles, and other edge-enabled applications, the market for edge computing is expected to grow rapidly in the coming years.

Barbara, The Cybersecure Edge Computing Platform for mission critical assets

Barbara is the Cybersecure Industrial Edge Platform designed to implement automated decision-making into critical industrial processes.

With the explosion of connected devices and the need for real-time data processing, it is no longer practical to send all data to a centralized data center. An Edge Platform is necessary to orchestrate this infrastructure as it provides the ability to manage and control the edge devices, applications, and data, while also providing security, scalability and flexibility.

Barbara´s architecture, distributed in thousands of computing nodes, allows us to communicate and virtualise any element and deploy Artificial Intelligence applications in real time.

Developed with cybersecurity by design, and compatible with Edge applications to optimise industrial processes and asset management, it is the perfect enabler to address the industry’s biggest challenges and accelerate industrial intelligence.

Barbara - Technology stack

Barbara´s Industrial Edge Platform is a powerful tool that can help organizations simplify and accelerate their Edge App deployments, building, orchestrating and maintaining easily container-based or native applications across thousands of distributed edge nodes.

Barbara's Edge platform provides the infrastructure that enables:

• Cybersecure artificial intelligence at the Edge.

• Remote deployment and management of cybersecure edge nodes and their algorithms.

• Intellectual property protection of artificial intelligence deployed at the edge.

• The coexistence of multi-author algorithms at the edge.
