Barbara IoT closes an investment round of €500,000 to accelerate its commercial expansion

Global Omnium and the Basque institutional funds Seed Capital de Bizkaia and Basque Fondo have become shareholders of the company.

Bilbao/Valencia/Madrid, December 21, 2020 - Barbara IoT, creator of a cybersecure operating system for the Internet of Things, has closed an investment round of 500,000 euros led by Global Omnium through its corporate venturing vehicle GoHub Ventures. Global Omnium through its corporate venturingvehicle GoHub Ventures, with the participation of the funds Seed Capital de Bizkaia of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia and Basque Fondo, a management company of venture capital entities belonging to the SPRI of the Basque Government.

Four years old, and founded by the same team that in 2013 created Blackphone, the world's first cybersecure Android phone, Barbara IoT has positioned itself as one of the most promising startups in the area of Internet of Things and Cybersecurity, and aims to lead the global market with a cybersecure operating system for connected industries.

With its secure operating system Barbara OS, it protects Internet-connected devices in industrial plants from cyber-attacks and facilitates their deployment and management, thus supporting the secure digitization of the industry.

The entry of capital in Barbara IoT will serve for the commercial expansion of the company, with the creation of a new center of excellence in Energy and Industry 4.0 in Bilbao (thanks to the support of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia and the support in the management of the SPRI of the Basque Government), and another in Valencia with a focus on Utilities and Public Sector. All of this with the aim of preparing the company for its international leap at the end of 2021.

The round closes after its successful passage through the acceleration program GoHub Accelerator. The startup has managed to attract major customers in markets where business continuity is critical, such as renewable energy -EDP and Cuerva Group-, industrial logistics, public services and supplies -Idrica and Bomberos de Bizkaia- or telecommunications -Cellnex-.David Purón, CEO & Co-founder of Barbara IoT: "After four years of strong investment in innovation and product, this new phase with the support of new partners will allow us to reach more companies and help reduce cybersecurity risks associated with the digitization of their assets".
