Barbara has been chosen together with 12 startups to contribute to clean energy technology Innovation. The Amazon Web Service Clean Energy Accelerator 2.0 programme has selected startups currently working on subjects such as hydrogen, battery storage carbon capture, bio engineering, smart grids, solar and wind energy, among others.

The programme will connect startups with leading energy organizations including ENEL, ENI, Iberdrola, GALP, Siemens Gamesa and Total Energies, to work together in solving complex clean energy and decarbonization challenges.

The inception of AWS Clean Energy Accelerator Programme

There is an urgent need to accelerate clean energy technology innovation if we want to achieve net-zero emissions targets. The technologies available today support less than 40 percent of the CO2 reductions needed, and many of these technologies are not yet commercially deployed on a mass-market scale.

In response to the latter, last year, Amazon Web Services launched the Clean Energy Accelerator programmed directed to catalyze innovation and support some of the most innovative startups that are helping transform the future of energy. Today, a year later, a new cohort of clean energy innovators has been invited to participate in Clean Energy Accelerator 2.0.

AWS is getting support from the global innovation consultancy Beta-i in the selection and support of this year’s participating startups.

Barbara´s Industrial Edge Platform has been chosen to connect industrial equipment to the cloud while enabling cybersecure intelligence at the Edge through IoT Technologies and Blockchain.

The five-week programme has three pillars of action. First the readiness pilot where there is alignment with energy customers; second the learning with Amazon’s innovation culture and AWS resources; and third building organisational and leadership capabilities.

Barbara will receive guidance in accelerating experimentation, expanding automation, and delivering deeper insights, using the cloud. Over the next five weeks, all companies will access to hands-on technical training in capabilities like machine learning, analytics, and high-performance computing.

The final stop will be on June 2nd, when all collaboration outcomes will be presented at the AWS Clean Energy Accelerator 2.0 Innovation Showcase, in Lisbon, Portugal, bringing together partners, startups, and key stakeholders from the European energy and technology innovation ecosystem .
